Inkjet Photo Printers: Four Ink Or Six Ink?
If you love taking pictures or have an exciting life that you enjoy documenting on the camera you should definitely own an inkjet photo printer. You can print out pictures to hang on walls or to give away. You can use it to make greeting cards or for other creations. It is an investment that can really pay off.
When you go to purchase one, you will find a wide variety of inkjet photo printers to choose from. It can be daunting when you see them all and start reading the details about each one. How do you choose? You might not even understand what some of the specs are referring to. There are a few things you can focus on to get started to help narrow down your search.
First of all know what general type you want to buy. Even if budget isnt an issue for you, as it is for most people, you dont just want to go out and buy the most expensive model that you may not understand how to use and which has more functions than you could ever need. Stick with looking at those that have the general functions you know you will be using, or may need in the future.
Inkjet photo printers come in two options as far as your ink cartridges go. There are four ink colors or six colors. It is important to know what you will be printing before you can make the best choice of which type is best for your needs.
With a four ink printer you will use less ink than with a six ink one. However, the quality of the image reproduction is not as true as with six inks. Still, if you are mostly planning to print documents and just some pictures a four ink inkjet photo printer is probably your best option.
With six ink printers you will get great quality and color in your printed images. However, they use more ink and are therefore more expensive. If you plan to use the printer exclusively for printing photos then the cost may be worth it, it just might not be a great idea to use six ink printers if you will be printing a lot of documents and other non-photo printing needs.
When you go in to look at inkjet printers you will see a sample photo for each printer. This should give you a good idea of what you can expect for your own photos if you should choose that machine. Keep in mind, though that you can set the resolution and the clearer you want your image the more ink it will use. This is why it is important to know if you want a four ink or six ink printer.
